ตลาดน้ำยามเย็นอัมพวา
          ในอดีตเมืองอัมพวาถือว่าเป็นศูนย์กลางการคมนาคมทางน้ำที่สำคัญของจังหวัดสมุทรสงคราม มีตลาดน้ำขนาดใหญ่ และชุมชนริมน้ำ ที่เป็นศูนย์กลางด้านพาณิชยกรรม
แต่ผลกระทบของการพัฒนาการคมนาคมทางบก ทำให้ความเป็นศูนย์กลางฯ ของอัมพวาต้องสูญเสียไป ตลาดน้ำค่อย ๆ ลดความสำคัญและสูญหายไป ในที่สุดทิ้งไว้แต่ร่องรอยของความเจริญในอดีต ซึ่งยังคงปรากฏให้เห็นชัดเจนในทุกวันนี้ เทศบาลตำบลอัมพวา โดยความร่วมมือร่วมใจของประชาชนในชุมชน จึงได้ฟื้นฟูตลาดน้ำอัมพวาขึ้นมาอีกครั้งหนึ่ง เพื่ออนุรักษ์ความเป็นอยู่ของชุมชนริมน้ำ ให้สืบทอดตลอดไป โดยใช้ชื่อว่า “ตลาดน้ำยามเย็น” จะมีทุกวันศุกร์ ตั้งแต่เวลา ๑๕.๐๐–๒๒.๐๐น. วันเสาร์และวันอาทิตย์ ตั้งแต่เวลา ๑๒.๐๐–๒๒.๐๐ น. และวันหยุดนักขัตฤกษ์ที่เป็นวันจันทร์, วันพฤหัสบดี ตลาดน้ำยามเย็นที่อัมพวาแห่งนี้ จะจัดขึ้นในช่วงเย็นเรื่อยไปจนถึงเวลาพลบค่ำ ซึ่งอาจกล่าวได้ว่าเป็นตลาดน้ำแห่งแรกของประเทศไทยที่จัดในลักษณะเช่นนี้ ในตอนเย็นชาวบ้านจะเริ่มทยอยพายเรือนำสินค้าหลากหลายนานาชนิด อาทิ อาหาร ผลไม้ พืชผัก ขนม ของกินของใช้ มาขายให้กับนักท่องเที่ยว หรือ คนในท้องถิ่นที่สัญจรไปมาที่ตลาดอัมพวา ทำให้ได้สัมผัสกับธรรมชาติของชีวิตของชุมชนริมน้ำ ซึ่งเป็นที่น่าประทับใจอย่างยิ่ง นักท่องเที่ยวสามารถที่จะหาซื้ออาหารมานั่งรับประมาน บริเวณริมคลองอัมพวาติดกับตลาดน้ำ ซึ่งได้มีการจัดสถานที่ไว้ ทำให้มีความสะดวกสบายมากยิ่งขึ้น

                                                 

Amphawa Evening Floating Market
          In the past, Amphawa District was an important centre for waterway transportation of Samut Songkhram Province. The district specially boasted a large floating market and commercial communities along the river banks. Unfortunately the development of inland transportation has greatly diminished the importance of waterway transportation, leaving behind only some traces of the prosperous riverside communities.To preserve the riverside communities of Amphawa, Amphawa Municipality and local people cooperated to revive the life of Amphawa Floating Market back. The market is open from 15.00-22.00 Hrs. on every Friday, and from 12.00-22.00 Hrs. on the weekend and holidays corresponding to Monday and Thursday. The market is regarded as one of a kind evening floating market in Thailand. When the floating market operates, the Amphawa Canal is filled with vendors offering a variety of products including foods, fruits and vegetables, desserts, consumer products for tourists and the locals to select from. The atmosphere is impressive and charming as if you went back in time. Tourists can also enjoy shopping for some foods and bringing them to eat while sitting in a provided place nearby the canal.
